Our fourth was composed of primarily your average Fourth of July celebrations. We were to go to the parade, have a BBQ, spend time with friends from out of town, then do the whole firework thing. Well, we accomplished the parade and we were just about to eat our BBQ when all of a sudden Jared comes running in the house with Hannah screaming. There is blood running everywhere. Apparently she had fallen right into the edge
of a cement stair with a rock poking out of it. Right between her eyes was this huge gash. We then rushed her to the emergency room, while leaving Amelia with my family.
Of course, the emergency room is crazy busy, and we have to wait to see the doctor. A facial surgeon has to be paged to come and do the stitches. The doctor arrives (in shorts and flip-flops, you've just got to love it) and suggests that she be sedated, after all, would you want to put stitches in on a two-year-old's face, right next to her eyes? After about two seconds of thinking about it we give the go ahead. It was scary to see your little girl just lying there like that. It's one of those moments you face as a parent when you know your doing the right thing for your child but you hate seeing them go through it. The anaesthesia is only affective for about ten to fifteen minutes. She was suddenly out, got four stitches, then suddenly awake all in a matter of a very short time.
We finally made it back to my parent's house to pick up Amelia and finally eat our BBQ. Hannah was back to running around and jumping off of things with no problem. We drove home and decided to cancel rest of our plans so we could sleep. What a crazy 4th!

poor little Hannah, and poor you - she has had way too many injuries for 2 1/2 years! So glad you did a blog! Good work!
